Researcher Access Program - Researchers can apply for up to $1,000 in OpenAI API credits to study responsible AI deployment, AI risk mitigation, and the societal impact of AI systems. OpenAI is especially interested in supporting early-stage researchers and those with limited financial or institutional resources. Credits are valid for 12 months and can be used on publicly available OpenAI models. Eligibility: Researchers in countries supported by the OpenAI API can apply. Applications should focus on relevant research areas such as alignment, fairness, societal impact, misuse potential, human-AI interaction, economic impacts, transfer learning, or multimodal measurements. Approval is not guaranteed.

Eligibility

An active affiliation with an academic institution or research organisation, or a nonprofit doing research (not operational support); based in a country the OpenAI API supports.
